Many, probably most, people have seen the latest GEICO car insurance commercial featuring a "film clip" of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln as she asks him about her dress. The "gag" is that perhaps in this case, Honest Abe is a bit TOO honest for his own good. Here's the commercial in case you've not yet seen it. I find it to be very funny. I hope you do, too.Welcome to Lincoln Belongs To The Ages! This blog serves as a source of information about Abraham Lincoln, covering every aspect of his life plus his continued legacy. Included is a smattering of commentary about modern-day events and politics but only as they pertain to Lincoln. It's hoped that this blog will encourage readers to seek out more information about this complex man. Comments are both welcome and encouraged.

Lincoln Is A Bit Too Honest
Many, probably most, people have seen the latest GEICO car insurance commercial featuring a "film clip" of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln as she asks him about her dress. This has definitely been my favorite of the Geico commercials. Is it weird that I thought of you the first time I saw it though?
ReplyDeleteJay,
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoy the commercial.
Thanks for thinking of the blog when you saw the commercial, too.
Geoff
I love it
ReplyDeleteMy wife told me that she thought the video was very well aged, made it look like it was actually shot during that era. Very funny indeed!
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
ReplyDeleteI've a favor to ask. I am a writer - a poet. Most of my work grows from my interest in the Civil War. I recently wrote a piece that is based on Lincoln's visit to Antietam - a photo of the visit to be specific. Might you read it? Tell me what you think?
Let me know.
