I regret that I didn't visit it earlier in life, because it was very interesting and enjoyable for me.

But fear not! I have more posts coming about Lincoln in Indiana. Literally across the road from the Boyhood National Memorial is Lincoln State Park. It contains a brand-new Lincoln memorial which is beautiful. It also contains the grave of Lincoln's sister. I'll be posting about those next.

Finally, I also visited a home in that area which belonged to an early employer of young Abe. Lincoln also stayed there as a grown man during the campaign of 1844.

So I have at least 3 or 4 more posts coming about my quick trip to Lincoln's Indiana.

I'm happy you both liked the previous posts.Geoff Elliotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07861071117040254491noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831255577594231117.post-76275936449953823712009-10-17T20:15:17.441-04:002009-10-17T20:15:17.441-04:00Geoff,

Even though it might not be as flashy or "important" as other Lincoln sites, it still sounds worth visiting. And I like that it was built on part of the original site of his home.Rebeccahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17996173704045178865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831255577594231117.post-85183857307686464002009-10-17T19:44:47.031-04:002009-10-17T19:44:47.031-04:00Thank you so much for these posts on the boyhood m...Thank you so much for these posts on the boyhood memorial. It's been a pleasure to virtually walk through, and means a lot to me and others I'm sure that you have taken the time to describe your experiences in great detail.

It's also enjoyable reading your opinion comparing memorials/museums.

I read about the springfield one that is "disney-like" and was mildly dismayed by it. Although we can be sure Lincoln would not be opposed to fun, there is something almost disrespectful about it, I just can't put my finger on it.

Thank you again :)Jelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02133163092172495744noreply@blogger.com
