Although I'm familiar with all the nursing "characters" referred to in the story, I too went back to the stacks to learn more about each of these individuals.... Dorothea Dix certainly doesn't come off as easy to work with (or for). I found this site googling "Mary Sutter" just to see if there was an obscure individual by that name- a bit diappointing that there wasn't!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08447665054939266554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831255577594231117.post-13547661442090386662010-11-09T18:39:22.752-05:002010-11-09T18:39:22.752-05:00I have just finnished this book and I highly recom...I have just finnished this book and I highly recommend it! There are parts that are a bit graffic, certainly not for the faint of heart, but as whole, this is an excellent book!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831255577594231117.post-29412853695040850612010-07-15T13:58:18.490-04:002010-07-15T13:58:18.490-04:00I finished the book and it will be my book pick wh...I finished the book and it will be my book pick when I host book club in October. I enjoyed the use of real history to tell Mary's story. I found myself Googling people to read their story along side the book.Deborahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14597945428961091793noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831255577594231117.post-27601495899246235672010-06-26T12:20:47.922-04:002010-06-26T12:20:47.922-04:00Just finished this book.....it's excellent. I've always been fascinated by the women in medicine in the 1800s - Florence Nightingale, Clara Barton, Dorothea Dix and Elizabeth Blackwell. It was nice to see each of them referenced in this book. I was also interested by the relationship of Lincoln and his generals - makes me want to read more about that.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09840862579733353275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831255577594231117.post-56130566602891668162010-06-03T10:55:11.752-04:002010-06-03T10:55:11.752-04:00I love the Clara Bartons!
